Why You Should Vote in the Upcoming Elections
With the 2022 National Elections fast approaching, one can’t help but wonder whether or not it is necessary for us to exercise our right to vote. As citizens of a democratic nation, we, the people, have the right to vote for the leaders we believe best fit the position. With cries for better leadership and governance being heard all across the country, here are some reasons why you should vote.
Voting is an opportunity for change. If you are dissatisfied with the ruling government, you can show it by voting against them. This may not necessarily mean that the best candidate will be elected, but it will help tip the scales and give them a better chance of doing so.
Elections affect your daily life. Though it may not seem that obvious, your life is governed by the laws implemented and the government run by the elected officials. These are the people making decisions that affect your life and voting gives you the power to choose who will be making these decisions on your behalf. They represent the people. They must answer to you, not the other way around.
Your vote matters. In a country as populous as ours, one might feel that a single vote will not make that much of a difference. However, it will make a big difference if it is on a national scale and thousands of votes are not cast.
Voting is our way of having a say. Every region has its own concerns and priorities which the people would like to address. The process of voting allows the citizens a say as to how these concerns could be addressed by seeing which candidate fits the purpose.
