(Mark Alejado dubbed as "Best Player of the Game" during the 3x3 Basketball League at Jumbo Drive, Tetuan.)
Leaning against the wall, an 18-year-old basketball player who is unable to participate in school-related sports activity due to the pandemic attested the expectations by pursuing his passion in their barangay.
Mark Charles Alejado, a basketball prodigy of Guiwan, never planned or thought of stopping his career as an athlete.
Alejado started playing basketball when he was four years old which marked his dedication to become a basketball player. He was 13 years old when he began his basketball career in their barangay while still pursuing his studies.
"In senior high school, the academic workload and other responsibilities might increase, making it challenging to devote as much time to school-related sports activities as I did back when I was an elementary student. But this is something that cannot hinder me in doing what I love," he remarked.
Throughout his career, he has already achieved two (2) first runner-up awards and two Most Valuable Player (MVP) awards and was announced more than eight times as the Best Player of the game. He achieved all of these due to his determination and passion for basketball.
The Zamboanga Chong Hua School administrator announced that the sports acts will resume soon enough as the pandemic has already started to fall. "We already received our memorandum, and we plan to start all the sports activities by next week Monday", says Sir Alex Moon.
As Alejado anticipates the re-opening of the sports activities in Zamboanga Chong Hua High School, he advises the athletes to stay committed to consistent practices, focus on fundamentals, and maintain a positive attitude on and off the court.
