As of September 3,2021, it has been announced by Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Director General Eric Domingo about the emergency approval of Moderna Coronavirus Vaccine for 12 to 17 years old. Accordingly, Moderna submitted documents and clinical data on August 19,2021 and recently find out that the vaccine was effective and safe for minors. Although the supplies for priority groups in this country are still restriced, elderly and those with comorbidities would still be prioritized by the health workers. This pandemic has created significant public health difficulties, taxing health care systems and triggering mental health crisis.

After health secretary Francisco Duque III, indicated that the Duterte government will have the willingness to wait for other nations to include adolescents in their Covid-19 programs and to be able to see its effects from them, DOST thus expressed the interest in conducting this study. Department of Health considers the idea of DOST to hold a clinical trial for Filipino children. DOH considerd pregnant women to take their vaccination, after the 1st trimester of their pregnancy, but with a specific precaution.
Minors are prone to Covid-19 since some of their immune system is not that strong enough to handle the virus, resulting in dead of many people. And vaccines also varies depending on race, so Vergeire suggested that Covid-19 doses must be tested on Filipino children. A lot of questions about this matter isn't answered by the experts yet, but it pulls the interest of many parents to ensure their childs safety. The potential side effects of Coronavirus vaccinations againts the hazard risks of Covid-19 must be balanced by the regulators.
